The vastness of the Andes Mountains.
View of the inspirational El Misti Volcano from a rural walk between the suburb of Paucarpata and El Molino de Sabandia in Arequipa.
The Laguna De Salinas is a remote salt lake that becomes a white salt flat during the dry months of May to December. It is rarely visited by locals or tourists, another compelling reason to go. The enormous lake takes two full days to walk around, and is 4300 meters (14,190 feet) in elevation, making it rather cold and windy. One can see llamas, vicunas, flamingos, and other Andean water birds, and for the entire day, we had the salt lake all to ourselves. The surroundings were oddly beautiful in a very otherworldly way for me.
