Moray We continued to hike further and further from the salt pans of Salinas, reaching the pueblo of Maras. 7 km beyond are the experimental agricultural terraces. Different levels of terraces are carved into an enormous bowl, part of which occurred naturally, and part of which was futher excavated by the Incas. The terraces supposedly have microclimates depending on how deep in the bowl they are, and so were thought to have been used by the Incas to discover in which conditions their crops would grow most successfully. |
