Title: The Mystery of the Secret Cave These are long exposure photos. This one is a ten-second long exposure. The challenge to me is to try and keep the tripod still when the ocean water is ebbing and flowing, pulling on the tripod, pulling the soft wet sand away from the tripod and wrapping seaweed around the tripod legs! I always jam the tripod in as hard as possible, and this certainly helps, although of course not always! And the other challenge is to try and keep the water from splashing on the lens or the camera. I destroyed my Nikon D90 at Bowling Ball Beach by having water splash on it, frying the circuit board. |
Title: The Secret Coast Early morning along the California coast. Using the wide-angle Tokina lens, I like to get the camera down low for these kinds of shots. Of course, there's a risk to the camera, but I try and keep a plastic bag around the camera. This photo was included in an art auction exhibition, The Karma Underground and KarmaBlast Charity Art Show and Auction, benefiting Tibetan schools, which took place 21 September 2012 at ArtShare Los Angeles. This exciting evening will include live painting by Samir Arghandwall of 7th Letter and DJ sets by J.Rocc, Tick (Latch Brothers/Routines/Dragons), Kiino Villand and Special Guests. There will also be live screen-printing by Hit + Run. A limited edition print by Malleus will be for sale to benefit the cause. There is a SUGGESTED donation of $10 at the door.
