Borrego Springs, CA: 1st Light Painting and Star Trails Photography Workshop, April 2014
Page 1 of 1
I taught a star trails and light painting workshop on 5 April 2014 in Borrego Springs, CA, and drove down with my friend Natalie, who also took the workshop. Much of the allure of Borrego Springs for me are Ricardo Breceda's amazing sculptures, set among the desert in Galleta Meadows. I love the natural setting both during the day and at night, when the stars come out. The photography class, held at the Borrego Springs Art Institute, was a lot of fun. It was held as a meetup.com group, and consisted of the workshop and then going out to the field and practicing our light painting and star trails skills. I didn't begin shooting until after midnight, when the field photography part of the class was over, but still managed to get a few shots that I thought I'd share with you. This was shot after the moon disappeared behind the mountains. Title: Dragon Head Star Trails |

On the way back from Borrego Springs, Natalie and stopped to admire and photograph some of the sites along the way. This is Chapel of St. Francis Assisi in Warner Springs, perched atop a hill, weathered by time, and restored numerous times. The Chapel was founded back in 1830 and still conducts services every Sunday at 11 am to a mostly Native American congregation, although all are of course welcome. This area was originally home to the Native American Cupeños Indian tribe. |
